Prior to joining Pool Re, Julian Enoizi was CEO of ProSight at Lloyd’s, the Goldman Sachs’ Capital Partners and TPG Capital backed entity. Previously, he was President & CEO of Argo International and, prior to joining Argo, he was President and CEO of CNA Europe, a position he held from 2005 having joined CNA in 2002 as President of its Continental European Division based in Paris. Before joining CNA, Julian held senior executive roles with AIG Europe and Chubb Insurance Company of Europe based in London, Paris and Brussels. Julian is a graduate of the Universities of Birmingham and Limoges, France. He holds an LLB (Hons) degree in Law and French Law and a Diplome D’Etudes Juridiques Francaises. He is a qualified lawyer and practiced in London, Milan and Brussels before embarking on his insurance career. Julian was formerly Chairman of the Insurance Leadership Group of the Prince’s Trust which has raised in excess of £4.5 million for charity. He also Chaired the City Forum, a group of 50 Executives under the age of 45 who work in the City of London. He was awarded Freedom of the City of London in 2010 and became a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Insurers in the same year.
Christian has been General Counsel and Company Secretary since October 2012. His additional responsibilities include compliance and human resources. Before joining the Company he was a partner in the insurance and reinsurance group at Hogan Lovells and predecessor firms for 26 years. Christian has a BA in Law from Kingston University and is a qualified solicitor.
Ed is Head of Risk Analysis and a member of the Executive management team at Pool Re. Ed leads the terrorism risk analysis and research team and is responsible for developing the company’s capacity and capability in understanding the terrorism threat landscape. He has extensive experience spanning over three decades of counter terrorism, international relations, intelligence, security and risk management much of which was gained during 24 years on front line service with the British Army. Before joining Pool Re, Ed spent 8 years in the risk consulting sector, including roles as Head of Group Business Development at Salamanca Group and Executive Chairman of Salamanca Risk Management. He remains a Senior Advisor at S-RM. He was privileged to command 22 SAS over 9/11 and was Commander of British Forces Afghanistan in 2006, before retiring as a Brigadier General in 2008. He has an Honours degree in Politics and International Relations and a Masters from Cranfield University in Military Technology and Defence Studies.
Ian is an experienced investment professional with international experience and strong leadership and management skills. He possesses extensive investment knowledge of all major asset classes and a wide variety of investment products and styles in fixed income, conventional equities and alternative asset classes. He demonstrates strong strategic planning and tactical asset allocation skills and has successfully managed investment teams through market cycles and in highly volatile periods resulting in excellent client retention and organisational stability. Prior to joining Pool Re as Chief Investment Officer, Ian was Managing Director of Butterfield Asset Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of Butterfield Bank. The asset management subsidiary provided investment management services to high net worth individuals, institutions and retail clients with total assets under management of approximately $9 billion. Before joining Butterfield in 1998, Ian fulfilled a number of senior investment roles with AIG in London, Boston and Tokyo. Ian began his investment career with the private Swiss bank Lombard Odier.
Peter is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of experience in senior financial and operational management roles. He joined Pool Re in 2009 and heads the accounting and finance function, in addition to responsibilities covering a number of operational areas including information technology. Peter qualified with Deloitte and subsequently worked in CFO or Director of Finance & Administration roles for several professional service firms, notably the strategy consultancies, Marakon Associates and Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. Prior to qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Peter earned a BA in Geography at the University of Exeter.
Steve is Chief Underwriting Officer and a member of the Executive management team at Pool Re. Steve has responsibility for all aspects of underwriting and claims, including exposure management and modelling. Prior to this, Steve spent 12 years at Allianz UK, latterly as Head of UK Property and Casualty. He also spent a year with Allianz Australia in 2005/6. Before that he worked for Independent Insurance for 10 years, ending up as UK property underwriting manager. Steve started his career with Eagle Star where he worked in a variety of commercial underwriting roles. Steve is an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and is also an expert witness in insurance matters.
Lisa has worked within the finance function since the company’s inception in 1993. She handles all aspects premium accounting and claims payments. She is also responsible for organising our volunteering schedule with AGE UK, one of the corner stones of Pool Re’s Corporate and Social Responsibility model, ensuring staff are fully briefed and available. Lisa has invaluable experience of the Pool Re scheme and its operation over the last 20 years.
Pat is a Technical Manager on the Market Operations team and her duties include undertaking reviews of Pool Re Members and handling technical enquiries. Prior to joining Pool Re in 2008, Pat spent 35 years in various underwriting and portfolio management roles at RSA. She is also a former President of the 150 (Business Interruption) Association.
Paul is a Fellow of The Chartered Insurance Institute and also a Chartered Insurer. Paul has over 30 years’ experience initially gained in the UK regions and the London Markets and more recently in European and truly global roles. Paul started his career in underwriting before progressing into a variety of external market facing roles including Sales Manager, Trading Team Leader, Business Development Manager and Global Relationship Leader. Paul joined Pool Re in 2018 as Distribution Manager with a responsibility for developing and leading strategic relationships and raising awareness across the key distribution channels including Insurers, Brokers, insurance associations and wider business institutions including The Chambers of Commerce and The Federation of Small Business.
Sarah is a Chartered Insurer and is currently Secretary of the Guildford Insurance Institute. Sarah has over 20 years of industry experience gained within a branch network and head office environment, holding a variety of broker and technical underwriting roles and was, most recently, Manager, Delegated Authorities & Schemes, for a large composite insurer. Sarah joined Pool Re in 2013 as a Technical Manager and is now Head of Market Operations. Her responsibilities include undertaking member reviews and handling referrals.
Stephen is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and has worked in the London market since 1994 in a variety of Roles. Prior to joining Pool Re towards the end of 2016, Stephen worked for Renaissance Re Syndicate 1458 for 6 years supporting the pricing of Insurance and Reinsurance products, developing underwriting tools and building bespoke pricing models predominantly in the US Casualty arena. Before Renaissance Re Stephen held a number of positions within various teams at Willis Re over a period of nearly 8 years (Capital Markets during which Willis took to market its first two Catastrophe Bonds on behalf of clients; Reinsurance Optimisation within the Analytics team; and other Structured solutions – Stephen was a Director of Willis Structure Financial Solutions and an Approved Person). Stephen came to London following a move from a direct insurer to take up a position in Swiss Re UK’s non-life team. Stephen remained with Swiss Re for more than 7 years predominantly as a Reserving and Reporting Analyst (and later as a qualified Actuary) as well as structuring Alternative Risk Transfer Solutions. Stephen holds a degree in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics from Heriot-Watt university and is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
Trevor joined Pool Re as a Technical Manager in March 2017. As a member of the Market Operations team Trevor has responsibility for undertaking Technical Member Reviews alongside handling any technical enquiries as received from the Pool Re Members. Prior to joining Pool Re, Trevor worked for broking firm Marsh & McLennan Companies within the National Corporate Practice in a variety of client servicing and broking roles. He commenced his career within an underwriting environment with some major Insurers. Trevor is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Warren is the Technical Manager, Claims at Pool Re, having been with the company since 2009. Warren is responsible for delivery of the company’s claims strategy, technical oversight and settlement of any terrorism claims within the UK. Having served over 28 years in the insurance claims sector, as a past claims manager for Chubb Insurance Company and qualified loss adjuster with GAB Robins Loss Adjusters (RSA). Warren is a recent past President of the London Business Interruption Association.
Andrew joined Pool Re after a distinguished career with the police, during which he spent most of his service in counter-terrorism. Andrew then supported the Foreign and Commonwealth Office with capacity building overseas, notably in India after the Mumbai attacks, before an attachment to the Association of Chief Police Officers (Terrorism and Allied Matters) supporting the Extremism Task Force in 2013, including liaison duties in Europe. He subsequently undertook several roles with the Ministry of Defence, including official duties in the United States of America, during a time which saw the rise of Daesh and persistent terrorist threats throughout mainland Europe.
Camilla joined Pool Re as an Analyst in the Terrorism Research and Analysis team in 2016. Prior to joining Pool Re, Camilla worked as a Parliamentary Assistant in the House of Commons, and in Global Banking and Markets for HSBC in their Paris office. Camilla holds a Master’s degree in French and International Relations from the University of St Andrews, specialising in political Islam and counter-terrorism. She speaks fluent French and Spanish.
Eden joined Pool Re as an analyst on the Terrorism Research and Analysis team in October 2017. Prior to joining Pool Re, Eden worked as an intelligence analyst specialising in cybercrime. Eden holds a Master’s Degree in Security and Intelligence Studies from Brunel University, and a BA in History from the University of Leeds.
Dipesh is an experience risk management professional with over 18 years of experience in Risk and Audit roles. He is responsible for leading the risk and compliance team within Pool Re. Before joining Pool Re, Dipesh has held various senior roles at Prudential Insurance, RBS, KPMG and lately with QBE Europe where he was the Head of Risk Management covering both the Company and London Market Division. Dipesh is a Fellow Certified Accountant (ACCA) and holds a BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Financial Management at Loughborough University.
Kevin joined Pool Re in 2015 and has more than 10 years’ experience within financial services, industry and practice. He is responsible for the financial management of Pool Re including statutory and regulatory reporting, financial planning and analysis and tax. He also has responsibility for the administration, reporting and compliance of the investment fund. Kevin is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree from Griffith University, Australia. He is also currently undertaking the final level of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.
Joseph joined as Finance Assistant in June 2016 with previous experience from working within the payables function at a media company. His main role is to support the finance department in day to day, essential operating tasks. He is currently undertaking the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) programme.
Jonathan joined Pool Re in 2015 and works with the CIO to both monitor the existing investment managers and also to develop Pool Re’s investment strategy. Jonathan’s career began at SG Warburg where he worked for sixteen years, the majority of which was spent as a market maker. From there, Jonathan moved to Friends Provident where he worked as an international bond fund manager. Prior to joining Pool Re, Jonathan worked for fourteen years at Legal and General Investment Management where he was Head of Global Government Bonds and, latterly, a strategic client relationship manager.
Tom is the Investment Accountant, responsible for all administration aspects of the investment funds including accounting, tax regulatory compliance and performance reporting. He is also responsible for the custodian relationships with BNY Mellon and HSBC. Tom has 4 years’ experience in the financial services industry and is an ACA qualified accountant. Tom previously earned a master’s degree in International Accounting and Financial Management from the University of East Anglia.
Rhodri is a qualified solicitor with extensive legal, corporate finance, compliance, regulatory and governance experience.
During his 20+ year career he has advised public and private companies across a number of different sectors, including financial services, media and technology. He has advised external clients on a wide range of transactions, including M&A, IPOs, Rights Issues, Management Buy-Outs and Governance Arrangements.
Most recently, prior to joining Pool Re, he worked for 8 years in the international division of a large US insurer, with Lloyd’s and London Market operations. Here he held various positions, including Head of Legal, Head of Compliance and Governance and Head of Delegated Underwriting. He was also a member of the senior management team and a director of a number of group companies.
Chris joined the Communications team in January 2018. He holds a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Literature from UCL, and a BA in English Literature from Durham University. Chris has written nine educational titles, published by Gresham Books, which are available at major retailers.
Frank joined Pool Re in January 2017 as an I.T Support Analyst. He has experience for Managed Service Providers for Financial Services, having had roles ranging from IT Support Engineer to Service Delivery Management. Before this, he worked at another MSP within the Charity/Third Sector industry completing an Apprenticeship in this time. His main role is to support the I.T Manager by tackling most of the daily support issues as well as liaising with Third-party providers regarding further support and services. His main experience lies within, Windows Server administration, Cisco Networking and Office365 Cloud Services.
Ray joined Pool Re as Head of IT in September 2017. He is responsible for the Pool Re IT strategy delivery, the project agenda, and the IT Service & Security.
Ray has held a number of senior IT positions with companies such as Aspen Group and Aon during twenty years’ experience in IT. While specialising in Insurance, his prior roles have included investment banking and logistics. Ray began his career as a developer in the financial services sector.
Ella Taswell joined Pool Re in June 2017 and is the Front of House Administrative Assistant, serving as first point of contact within the organisation. Ella performs a key role in the administration, smooth running of the business from day to day and deals with all incoming enquiries. She comes to us from a customer service background and has a strong affinity for Contemporary Dance
Joining us in the summer of 2017, Whitney is an Executive Assistant to Julian Enoizi CEO bringing to us 20+ years’ experience in director level corporate administration. As a dual national, she has worked for US and UK financial services companies, Lloyd’s Syndicates and hedge fund start-ups. Whitney also co-founded and served as a Company Director and Secretary for a limited company providing financial consultancy to banking institutions. Prior to her time in administration, she spent time as an adjunct French lecturer in the State University of New York system and classroom taught after emigrating to London in 1991 from the United States, concurrently serving as Head of Marketing and Communications for a North London girls’ school. As an extra-curricular, she served on the Board of Directors for a homeless families project as Chair of Fundraising for ten years. An avid cook, Whitney has also achieved her Level 2 certificate from the Wines and Spirits Educational Trust dabbling in wine tasting and enjoys playing bridge and scrabble at weekends.
