Age UK Lewisham Southwark | Corporate Social Responsibility

Pool Re launched its revised CSR programme in mid-2014, following extensive staff consultations and a programme of development work, led by incoming Chief Executive Julian Enoizi.

Our partnership with Age UK Lewisham & Southwark focusses on the specific needs of the Stones End Day Centre in Southwark, a specialist care and support Centre. Since 1984 the Centre has developed a range of services to support the complex and changing needs of disadvantaged elderly people.

Our ambition remains to develop a programme of support that inspires and engages our employees and wider stakeholders, and creating maximum social impact by making a meaningful difference to the well-being of local older people.

Our key aims include, but are not limited to:

1. Raising substantial new funding to secure critical ‘at risk’ service provision – through targeted corporate gifts and staff fundraising

2. Addressing key infrastructure challenges – IT systems, the dated internal hairdressers and other areas including accounting, legal and contracts

3. Recruiting, training and enabling our employees to regularly volunteer at the Centre – working one on one with the elderly regulars and specialist care team.

We believe our community programme empowers Pool Re to reinforce our core values, fosters innovation, leadership and personal accountability whilst protecting and nurturing all who work for us through learning and the ability to contribute. This in turn enables us to recruit and retain key talent and nurture excellence within the workplace.

Pool Re is a business with a small dedicated team. This programme has made it possible for everyone in the company to feel engaged and inspired. It has become a critical component of who we are and provides us with an invaluable opportunity to make a difference collectively.

Julian Enoizi, Pool Re’s CEO

The support of Pool Re has been truly invaluable, we would have remained completely lost without their knowledge, expertise and generous contribution!

Rajvi Patel, Age UK Development Manager

I’d like to extend our heart-felt thanks, your support really matters and comes to you all so naturally. It is obvious that you really want to help out, and indeed you are.

Jacky Bourke-White, Age UK CEO

In particular, I would like to draw your attention to the considerable amount of time that your staff has kindly given us over this period, including volunteering at Stone Ends Day Centre, as well as painting and gardening for our Independent Living Service project. The older people we support have benefitted greatly from the improved environment you have helped us to provide.

Miny Jansen, Chair of Trustees, Age UK Lewisham and Southwark

It is wonderful to know that the older people of Southwark have your support and I would like to thank you wholeheartedly for your organisation’s charitability.

Councilor Dora Dixon-Fyle MBE, The Worshipful Mayor of Southwark

Pool Re have done some fantastic work through the community programme with Age UK. At Aviva we are passionate supporters of the Corporate Social Responsibility agenda and we really value partners who proactively engage in this area too.

Maurice Tulloch, Chairman Global General Insurance & Chief Executive UK & Ireland

Peter Aves presents a cheque to Jacky Bourke-White from Age UK, with the proceeds raised from our quiz night on 5 July.

On the 27th of September, we had the pleasure of working together with The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Jeffrey Mountevans, to put together a fundraising event on the City Giving Day. We worked together with some of our clients as well as our suppliers and managed to raise over £1000, which we gave directly to Age UK Lewisham and Southwark.

Thank you for our table tennis table and as you can see we are up and running with it right away. Thanks to the team for adding a new activity to our event.
