This year’s IFTRIP Annual International Conference proved to be another great success for the organisation. A broad spectrum of themes was brought to life by an exceptional range of speakers. The conference welcomed one of the largest international gatherings of terrorism (re)insurers, experts, academics and thought leaders coming together to learn the very latest on terrorism risk.
IFTRIP 2019 consisted of a rich programme and delegates were able to hear first-hand how the terrorist threat has manifested in recent years. Examining subjects such as cyber terrorism, extremism and victim compensation, the day showcased a phenomenal range of speakers. Contributions from industry experts sharing thought-provoking speeches and presentations helped clearly identify the work that has been and still needs to be done to build resilience against terrorism.
The day was both fascinating and revealing, helping to define some of the issues facing global (re)insurance market. Each organisation illustrates a different approach however all are looking to collaborate on how to respond to the changing terrorism threat landscape.
Dr Christopher Wallace, CEO of Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC), was appointed incoming President of IFTRIP for 2020. His appointment, announced at the conference, is reported to commence in January 2020.
