“Guaranteeing Great Britain: Managing Terrorism Risk & Building Resilience” is our ambitious strategy for meeting the challenges of a changing insurance environment and terrorist threat over the next five years.
It is a blueprint based on over 12 months of consultation with Members and our wider stakeholder group, and we are grateful to all those who participated in building a collective vision for the future. The result is a pathway for delivering structural reforms to the scheme which will enable us to continue to drive the growth of the private market for terrorism (re)insurance, and maximise commercial capacity in pursuit of national resilience. The launch coincides with the recent announcement by the government of its latest five year review of Pool Re. Since the last Review in 2014, our industry has together taken great steps to establish Pool Re as one of the most advanced public-private risk financing solutions in the world. The current Review is an opportunity to build on these steps, and secure a mandate from which to deliver the structural reforms required to manage terrorism risk effectively in the decade ahead. To inform the 2020 Review, the government will release a ‘Call for Evidence’ document later in the autumn. We strongly encourage all interested parties to respond; doing so will help us to ensure that Pool Re’s development in the years ahead is aligned to the needs and interests of all of its stakeholders.Download the Strategy Paper here.
